PRICE AND QUOTATIONS

All quotes are subject to amendment and the Company reserves the right to correct/amend prices as necessary. Quotes are given under the assumption that the subflooring is in good condition.

CUSTOMERS OWN MEASUREMENTS

Should a customer contact us providing us with the exact type of carpet or floor-covering they require along with their own measurements of areas to be fitted, we will make allowances on these sizes and place an order. We cannot be held liable for carpets or floor-coverings that do not fit if customers have provided us with their own measurements that prove to be incorrect.

Alternatively we can provide an estimated price over the phone prior to measuring. An estimated price will be approximate based on the sizes you provide us with and cannot be taken as a quotation. An exact quotation will be provided when we carry out a site survey/measure.

CANCELLATION AND RETURNS

In receipt of your 50% deposit, you have entered into a contract with us which would have initiated us to cut/order your specific Carpet, Laminate, Wood or LVT, which will be non-returnable to the supplier.

As we do not stock products, any purchases will be unique to your order which is unlikely to be returnable or sold on.

FURNITURE & APPLIANCES

We kindly ask you to remove all furniture from areas to be fitted before we arrive. Where our staff are required to move furniture, electrical equipment / appliances and other objects in the area of installation, this is carried out entirely at the risk of the customer. We strongly recommend that the client supervise the movement of all large items and that the client moves fragile or valuable pieces. We do not move personal belongings, clothing, ornaments and other small items. Wardrobes, cabinets etc. must be emptied of all contents if we are to move them, beds stripped of bedding so mattress and beds can be moved. We kindly ask you to move all smaller items out of the room before we arrive and we will move the larger items where a separate charge has been applied.

We do not accept responsibility for any damage to furniture or electrical equipment that we move except where it has been caused by our negligence.

Staff are unable to accept responsibility for damage or breakages caused during the movement of the client’s possessions.

Please be sure if you are replacing furniture not to drag heavy items across newly fitted carpets as this may cause them to loosen and ruck and a re-stretch may be required which will incur a minimum call out charge. Dragging heavy furniture across newly fitted floor-coverings may cause marks or tears which will be irreparable.

FITTING

All of our fitters carry out their work with the upmost of care.

Whilst every care is taken when installing your flooring it is almost impossible not to leave small marks on painted skirting boards. This can normally be removed with some spirit-based liquids. In some cases when installing stair carpet some chipping of paint work and plaster work can occur due to the vibration caused by the fitter. We would recommend that an allowance is made for your decorator to return to site after the carpet installation to make good any paintwork, we cannot be responsible for any costs incurred. We recommend that 1 – 2 weeks is allowed for newly painted surfaces to cure properly.

Occasionally skirting boards can split when fitting carpets into the small gap between the gripper rod and the base of the skirting. This happens as a result of poorly fitted skirting boards and therefore is the responsibility of your contractor to make good. We will not be responsible for any costs incurred but will return to site to re-fit carpets if required.

PIPES, ELECTRICAL WIRES, UNDERFLOOR HEATING

(Either one of these paragraphs)

It is a requirement of the Customer to inform the Company/fitters of the location of any underfloor heating, gas/water pipes or electrical wiring that may be at risk of damage due to the installation of your goods. No liability will be accepted by the fitters or the Company with regard to damage caused in relation to the above if such information is not given.

The position of services such as water, gas and electricity supplies must be clearly identified for our fitters to avoid accidental damage. Unprotected/loose wiring for alarms, computer systems, telephones, audio and video equipment (to name only, but not limited to, principal types) should be run in trunking under the floor. Wiring and services are often concealed from the carpet fitter and therefore we cannot accept responsibility for accidental damage during carpet installation.

DOOR TRIMMING

Doors may need to be trimmed to allow clearance. This is not part of the fitting work unless this has been specifically agreed. In the event that the doors do not have sufficient clearance for the carpets, the fitters may remove the doors, allowing you to appoint a carpenter to carry out the trimming in your own time.

Please note that an approximate clearance of 20mm is required under doors for most carpet types.

We offer to trim doors strictly on the understanding that we take no responsibility for any damage to doors. A charge for this service will be made.

Trimming of doors are excluded unless otherwise arranged.

COLOUR MATCHING

Flooring samples should only be used as a guide to colour matching. Colour reproduction may vary across batches of carpet. Carpets are matched back to the master sample to ensure that colour remains within a commercial tolerance. Carpets varying in width (4m and 5m) may vary in colour as they may be from different batches. Carpets that are identical but laid with the pile travelling in different directions may appear not to match. Wood products are an organic material and are subject to natural variance. You should note that when a subfloor is not completely flat, this may result in a bounce effect in wooden flooring and the Company will not be held responsible for this. The company will always endeavour to offer the customer the most accurate advice possible about preparing the surface before we begin any specific job. All fabrics especially carpets are liable to pile shading differences, light and dark areas arising from unequal surface pressure. This is no way detrimental to the durability of the carpet and is not a fault in manufacture.

Colour matching and fastness to light: It should be noted that sample material may not be from the same batch as the installation carpet and therefore an exact colour match cannot be guaranteed. It must be understood that no dye has permanent light fastness.

Carpets are soft products and flattening of the pile will occur as a result of usage. Flattening may change the shade of the carpet (shading) and this may be permanent (pile reversal). This may appear to be random but this is not a fault. Areas of high foot traffic are especially prone to such changes in appearance. The side of the pile may appear to be a slightly different colour to the ends. Changes in direction or angle of the pile may change the shade of the carpet and this may appear patchy. Such changes do not affect the durability of the carpet.

Pile reversal is a permanent, unpredictable, localised change in the direction of the pile lean, which alters the pattern of light, reflected creating a random “light and shade” effect. Pile reversal is not necessarily associated with foot traffic and has been known to occur in unused carpet. It is a localised change in appearance, which does not affect resistance to abrasive wear *Pile reversal is not attributable to a manufacturing fault and can be associated with local conditions where the carpet is installed. It is a random effect unlike “tracking” which is a shading effect caused by normal wear patterns. Pile Reversal may occur in most textiles with a pile. We cannot be held responsible for this, as it is not regarded as a manufacturing fault

During transportation and storage, carpet pile may become slightly crushed and this will show as shaded bands across the pile. These will disappear as the carpet settles into its new environment and as the pile is flexed through regular use and vacuum cleaning.

All new carpets benefit from the use of a good quality underlay. Reusing existing underlay may result in abnormal flattening of the carpet pile and faster wearing.

Carpets and floor-coverings exposed to high levels of sunlight (such as in conservatories) may fade in colour over a period of time. This is not a fault and we cannot be held liable for this.

All carpets using a spun yarn will shed excess fibre when first installed. The duration of the shedding of these fibres will vary dependent upon the frequency of vacuuming and the type of machine used. This is to be expected and does not mean there is a defect.

We recommend the use of vacuum cleaners with rotating brushes on cut pile carpets but suction only for loop pile carpets.

Customers are advised against ordering a loop pile carpet if they have cats or dogs. We cannot be held liable for pulled loops if animals scratch at carpets.

Placing an order implies acceptance of the Company’s trading terms and conditions.

CLAIMS

The Company will not accept any claims for soiling after the Goods have been accepted or for shading (variation in colour) on Goods ordered at different times.
